Cape Town is in for another cold, wet and windy weekend. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a number of weather alerts for the Western Cape and other parts of the country as another cold front is expected to pass over South Africa in the next few days.

According to SAWS, the cold front is approaching from the southwestern parts of the country and will make landfall along the south-west coast on Friday evening, bringing scattered to isolated showers over the western areas of the Western Cape province from Friday afternoon.
Weather warnings issued for the Western Cape:
A Yellow level 2 warning for damaging waves is expected between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas from Friday evening spreading to Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay on Saturday morning. The warning is valid from 6pm on Friday until midnight on Monday.
Wave heights are expected to increase to five to seven metres from Friday evening.
A Yellow level 2 warning for strong winds associated with the cold front is expected over the eastern Cape Winelands, Central Karoo and the southern interior of Namakwa. The warning is valid from 10am on Friday until 12pm on Saturday.
Wind speeds are expected to reach gale force along the coast.
The weather service added that there is a possibility of snowfall in high-lying areas in the interior of the Western Cape on Friday.
The snowy conditions are expected to reach the southern Drakensberg and Eastern Cape by Monday. Disruptive snowfall is also a possibility in places.

Additionally, an advisory of very cold, wet and windy conditions has been issued as the cold front is expected to sweep across the Western Cape, northern parts of Northern Cape and Eastern Cape from Friday into Saturday and Sunday.
The weather advisory is valid from midnight on Friday until 11:59pm on Sunday, 9 July.
‘The passing cold front over the Western Cape and Northern Cape is expected from Friday afternoon. This will be associated with cold, wet and windy conditions over the southern Namakwa and Western Cape,’ said the weather service.
‘Maximum temperatures expected [to] be below 10°C in places from Saturday through to Sunday.
SAWS highlighted that temperatures may feel colder than given forecasts as a result of the wind chill factor associated with the coming cold front.
