Adding to its charm, Bantry Bay remains a relatively wind-free area in Cape Town, and while Bantry Bay does not have its own beach, both the beaches of Saunders Rock and Clifton are within walking distance.
Visitors can even take a walk along the eroded outline of sandstone on the rocky coastline.

Bantry Bay also has a fascinating history, being first settled in 1783 and being originally called Botany Bay, after a botanical garden was planted there to cultivate medicinal herbs. The name was changed, however, during World War I.
Additionally, Charles Darwin also visited Bantry Bay while making geological observations regarding how granite originated in the area, as well as the nature of the mineral.
Today, a plaque on Bantry Bay’s seashore commemorates Darwin, paying tribute to the influential biologist.

The Sea Point Galleria shopping centre, situated in Sea Point’s Main Road, has a plethora of stores and restaurants that cater for visitors’ every need.
Furthermore, the V&A Waterfront is also just 15 minutes away, offering stores and restaurants and a scenic setting.
For accommodation, Bantry Bay has no shortage of hotels, with the luxury Bantry Bay International Vacation Resort being among the most in-demand.
