The Woman King Actress, Viola Davis renowned for her incredible Hollywood career, gave something of a shout-out to a Cape Town girl group – Woman2Woman. Back in 2017, members Lee van Rheede, Felicity Kiran, and Anray Amansure performed on the “Expresso Morning Show” on SABC 3, and their clip ended up going viral.
They performed a ‘Cape Flats version’ of Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable”, which they called “Stap Links”. Stap Links is a combination of Cape flats Afrikaaps, a bit of humour and high-tempo music which has become popular around Cape Town, and thanks to Viola, potentially the world!

Viola shared the clip on social media via her Instagram with the caption “Me talking to my anxiety and self-doubt… (I’m the sista in the black dress)” in reference to one of the singers. Other stars like Thuso Mbedu also enjoyed the clip via her comment on Viola’s post. Although it was shared humorously, as the saying goes, no publicity is bad publicity.

One of the group members believes with such reshares coming from the likes of Viola, the group must be doing something right and we couldn’t agree more.
