Cape Town Opera is set to host its Bon Appétit opera event paired with mouthwatering food from the Vineyard Hotel show kitchen.
Guests can expect flavours of Bernstein’s La Bonne Cuisine: Four Recipes for voice and piano, Bach’s unique secular Coffee Cantata Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht and others serve as hors d’oeuvres and main course.

For dessert guests can look forward to Julia Child’s “deliciously decadent” chocolate cake recipe, reincarnated as a musical monologue by American Composer Lee Hoiby from a transcript of an episode of “The French Chef”.
Guests are also given the option to join Chef Mike Basset and Cape Town Opera on this exciting culinary journey with musical direction from José Dias.
The menu for the evening, with a complimentary glass of Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel on arrival, is as follows:
- Breaded oxtail with plum pudding, red wine jus and mustard pomme purée
- Coffee Martini
- Rabbit roulade with baby onions, apple and carrot miso with bacon, creamed parsley and a rolled omelette
- Caramel Turkish milk pudding with chicken, rose ice cream with toasted almond powder
- Chocolate cake pop Bon Appetit! and coffee
A vegetarian option is made available on request.
