As reported by News24, Growing up, Kleinsmith watched singing competition shows and yearned for a chance to perform on stage. She taught herself about vocal attack and range, which eventually earned her a spot on M-Net’s Idols on Mzansi Magic during season 12 when she made it to the group rounds.
As a child, Micaela was the target of heavy bullying. To cope with this, she turned to music as a means of escape. When she realized she had a gift for singing, she used it as a way to connect with others and make new friends.
Having begun writing songs at the age of 14, she steadily grew in her craft as an artist. Her hard work and dedication have now paid off, as she emerged victorious in a global competition backed by Reese Witherspoon and executive produced by multi-Grammy Award-winning star, Kacey Musgraves.

Orville Peck originally championed Micaela, whose incredible vocals and evident growth as an artist throughout her journey on My Kind of Country won the hearts of the scouts.
Micaela’s EP, Butterfly, was recently released through Platoon on Apple Music, featuring three of her original songs, namely Butterfly, Eternity, and Raise A Cup.
She had the incredible opportunity to record these songs with renowned music producer, Tommy Sims. Additionally, she has also released a cover of The Band Perry’s If I Die Young. All of these songs are now available for streaming on Apple Music.
