Cape Town’s Tweede Nuwe Jaar street parade takes place on 5 January 2026. The Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association (KKKA) is the official organiser and the event marks a long community tradition, reports Cape {town} Etc.
On 5 January the DHL Stadium Stage Activation will commence at 11h30 and at 12h00, in perfect synchrony with the Road March, the KKKA Competition items will begin inside the stadium.
Troupes will gather on Somerset Road and begin the road march.

Several other klopse groups, unaffiliated with the KKKA, are taking part in separate competitions. (A legal dispute is also underway, though it’s unrelated to the official Tweede Nuwe Jaar event.)
City officials and organisers have adjusted plans for safety and logistics. The City has published a route notice and road-closure guidance for residents and visitors.
