As February blossoms into the month of love, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic and Shelter in Khayelitsha is embracing the spirit of the season by offering second chances to its most eligible furry bachelors and bachelorettes, reports Cape {town} Etc.
With countless rescued dogs and cats still hoping for a forever home, this Valentine’s Day, the shelter is playing a heartfelt matchmaker, inviting the public to open their hearts and wallets to rescue animals in need.
Many of these animals have spent weeks, even months, at the shelter, making Valentine’s Day can particularly poignant for them.
As they wait for their perfect matches, Mdzananda is encouraging the community to express their love by sponsoring a rescue animal for this special day. ‘Instead of chocolates or flowers that fade, a sponsorship gift creates real, lasting impact,’ says Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising and Communications Executive.
‘Each sponsorship helps cover food, shelter, medical care, and comfort for animals who have already been through so much,’
In keeping with the theme of spreading love, Mdzananda’s campaign invites animal lovers to #BeMyValentine this February with various sponsorship options tailored to suit all budgets:
- R50 – Flea and tick treatment for itch-free cuddles
- R100 – Essential vaccinations to keep a Valentine healthy
- R300 – Two weeks of nutritious meals
- R500 – A full month of care, comfort, and shelter
- R600 – Wholesome meals for an entire month
- R650 – Spaying or neutering, supporting responsible love and care
This Valentine’s Day, the message is clear: love doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes, it just has four paws and a second chance.
