Matroosberg Reserve has confirmed “lots of snow on the mountain”. This accounts for the third major weather-related event in the Western Cape this week: fire, floods and now frost.

Here are the details, as per the Matroosberg Reserve Facebook page:
- Hiking time to the snow is about an hour.
- 4×4 vehicles can get access to the snow but the trail will not be cleared with quadbikes or a tractor.
- The trail will only be open up to the Nekkie/Lakenvlei viewpoint at this stage.

During the winter months, the Matroosberg mountain range is often covered with snow. So much so, that the private nature reserve has its own ski slope and ski hut. A variety of accommodation options are available on the farm to suit visitors with varying budgets.
