Here are five things to do in the northern suburbs:
Tygerberg Nature Reserve
This area was proclaimed as a Section 23 Nature Reserve under the Protected Areas Act in 2016. It covers 338 hectares filled with 562 different plant species, of which 23 are threatened, eight are endemic to Cape Town, and three are endemic to Tygerberg itself.
Visitors can stop at the Kristo Pienaar Environmental Education Centre, which features a resource centre with a library and a herbarium. The venue holds lessons on several topics, such as biodiversity, birds, ecology and invasive species.

Durbanville Wine Valley
The Durbanville Wine Valley, a mere 20-minute drive from Cape Town, boasts scenic vineyards, award-winning wines, and a friendly atmosphere.
The 15 prestigious wine farms that comprise Cape Town’s northern vineyards include Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, Canto, D’Aria, Diemersdal, De Grendel, Durbanville Hills, Hillcrest, Klein Roosboom, Loch Lynne, Maastricht Meerendal, Nitida, Groot Phesantekraal wines, and Signal Gun.

Cool Runnings Toboggan Track
If you’re looking for some action and family fun, then visit Africa’s first downhill tobogganing track. Fly down a half-pipe in a bobsled and hurtle through twists and curves on the 1.25km track.
Cool Runnings is a Cape Town-based family park that features an intricate course of steel tracks and wheeled bobsleds. The course takes you through 17 corners, S-bends and a tunnel before slowing down at the bottom.
There is also a café that serves boerie rolls, burgers and pizza, as well as a bar.

Bellville Golf Club
This Par 72, 6 000-metre course dates back to 1957 as a favoured recreational spot for sportsmen with varying levels of expertise. Strategically placed in a sheltered valley and flanked by rolling hills, the Bellville Golf Club offers players panoramic views of the Hottentots Holland Mountains.
The site is a best-in-class golfing haven in the Western Cape and is within easy reach from all major access routes. The club participates in the majority of the Western Province leagues, and members consistently contribute to several provincial teams.
