Nature is truly a force to be reckoned with. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the annual “flower show” put on by the one and only Mother Nature herself.
A kaleidoscope of colours and an array of scents will greet spectators from August to September, with this year bound to be a special one thanks to heavy rainfall and countless hours stuck at home, thanks COVID.
There’s certainly no better time to stretch your legs and treat your eyeballs than with this colourful display. But where are the best places to snap some pics? The West Coast is filled with incredible spots; from the West Coast National Park to Velddri, here are a few places you can get your flower season fix.
Darling
Located a short hour’s drive from the CBD, this quaint town is the perfect spot if you’re looking to enjoy the countryside without driving too far out. Darling Renosterveld Reserve, in particular, is a great place to park the car and snap some pictures. If you’re looking to stretch your driving legs and satisfy your crayfish cravings, then the charming fishing village of Paternoster is a must. Considered one of the oldest villages on the West Coast, Paternoster is an easy two hours drive from Cape Town’s city centre.
