It’s official pop-culture lovers! Comic Con Cape Town, the highly anticipated celebration of cosplaying and creativity is set to make a five-day return to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 27 April to 1 May 2024.
The sought-after event promises to, once again, unite fans of pop culture, gaming, comics, movies, TV shows and more for an unforgettable, world-class experience.

Comic Cons are a global phenomenon, that turn event venues into vibrant hubs where fans can connect and express themselves in a diverse, self-expressive and judgement-free environment, while experiencing the communal and tangible excitement of their favourite fandoms.
For Comic Con Cape Town, fans can expect to meet local and international celebrity guests, participate in cosplay competitions, explore exclusive merchandise, attend panels and workshops, and even get sneak peeks of upcoming releases.
In addition to pop culture, Comic Con Cape Town also offers a thrilling gaming and tech experience which is set to feature free-to-play experiences and tournaments from some of South Africa’s top entertainment providers. Comic Con Cape Town offers something for everyone, from hardcore fans to casual enthusiasts.

Following the announcement by the City of Cape Town to support Comic Con Cape Town for the next three years, the 2024 edition of the festival is bringing fans a unique experience spread across five exciting days. Telkom and Toyota are also returning as partners for this year’s iteration.
On Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, Comic Con Cape Town will run from 9am to 6pm. Fans can also join the party on Monday and Tuesday of the event; with a programme of exclusive events and activities (to be announced) running into the evening from 11am to 8pm.

To date, Comic Con Cape Town – in partnership with FanCon – has announced international comic book icon Dan Didio who has made an impact on the medium by being involved in ushering in DC Comics’ New 52 Reboot and All-Star Series. Didio is also currently working on a project that involves another industry icon – Frank Miller.
On the local front, Comic Con Cape Town has also announced the appearance of Durban’s Anand Ramcheron, who has made an impact on the comic universe by contributing artwork to the Marvel: Crisis Protocol board game, as well as freelancing for the visually spectacular Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
In addition to artist spotlight guests, Comic Con Cape Town will also feature a dedicated area for artists and creatives to retail original prints, engage in creative exchanges, and even commission one-of-a-kind pieces called the Artist Alley.

As a returning industry offering, the Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) will be at Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday with featured workshops dedicated to offering animators of all calibres the opportunity to learn about the craft through panels with some of the industry’s top contributors.
Comic Con Cape Town is happening at the CTICC 2, from 27 April to 1 May 2024, and tickets are available now from R190 through Howler.
