It’s always the perfect time for sweet treats and there’s nothing more delightful than a trip to one of our favourite doughnut spots – Grumpy & Runt.
This little deli and vegan bakery, located in Gardens, is all about ethical indulgence. And everything is moreish.

Grumpy & Runt specialises in hand-crafted doughnuts. Creations are hand-rolled, cut, and fried fresh each morning. Every week, they release a selection of eight different flavours. The flavours drop on Tuesdays and are rarely repeated. Keep an eye on @grumpyandrunt on Instagram for the latest.
The shop takes the classic doughnut and combines it with traditional desserts, nostalgic flavours, South African classics, and French pastries. They’ve even made a doughnut waffle, or as Grumpy & Runt calls it: the Do-Waffle.
Divine savoury goodies are also on offer. Grumpy & Runt’s vibe is New York-style vegan deli food and vegan baked goods, which includes sourdough sandwiches, filled bagels, cookies, sweet and savoury pies, pretzels, muffins and a range of pastries. All the classics, but cruelty-free, plus all your daily provisions.
Sugar spice and everything nice – whichever flavour journey you embark on here, each ingredient is made from scratch and sprinkled with a lot of love.
“As far as possible, we try to make everything ourselves, including our vegan butter, vegan cheese, vegan deli meats; pastry; dough and even our mayonnaise, because we care. This is ethical indulgence, so you can get the vegan desserts you deserve.”
