In 2024, Cape Town itself will become a canvas for creative expression with the Unbound City initiative. This innovative project extends the art fair’s reach, hosting a series of VIP and public events across iconic landmarks like Zeitz MOCAA, the Norval Foundation, the Bo Kaap Museum and more.
Galleries and international exhibitors will also organise pop-up exhibitions, fostering a dynamic artistic dialogue throughout the city.
Seeking to democratise art collecting, the fair’s ‘Editions’ section will spotlight prints, multiples and editions by renowned and emerging artists, offering an entry point for budding collectors. Additionally, ALT showcases non-traditional art spaces, providing a fresh perspective on artistic expression at affordable prices.
The ‘Tomorrows/Today’ section, curated by Dr. Mariella Franzoni, acts as a launchpad for emerging artists, forecasting future trends and ideas.

This year’s theme, ‘Inhabiting the Wild,’ explores the concept of wildness through artistic imagination, inviting visitors to engage with uncharted creative realms.
The MAIN section will dazzle art enthusiasts with masterpieces from world-renowned galleries like ARTCO Galerie and Southern Guild. Zanele Muholi, Andile Dyalvane and other prominent artists will grace the Southern Guild exhibition, while ARTCO Galerie brings Patrick Tagoe-Turkson’s sustainability-focused artwork to the fore.
Challenging perceptions, the curatorial theme ‘Unbound’ invites viewers to ponder the liberating essence of art.
