Cape Town’s city centre is glowing this weekend as LUMENOCITY transforms the historic Company’s Garden into a dazzling playground of light, art and storytelling.
Running from 10 to 12 April 2026, this immersive ‘Art of Light‘ festival brings together more than 20 installations that fuse cutting-edge technology with creative expression. Visitors can wander through illuminated pathways, projection-mapped landmarks and interactive exhibits designed to captivate all ages.
In a first for South Africa, the large-scale exhibition extends beyond the garden itself, lighting up the surrounding Iziko Museums of South Africa buildings and placing local artists firmly on the global stage. One standout is multidisciplinary artist Mpho Jacobs, whose projection mapping piece ‘Let’s Play‘ is already drawing widespread attention.
More than just a visual spectacle, LUMENOCITY offers a full evening experience. Families and friends can enjoy live music, curated food stalls and relaxed chill zones, making it an ideal night out in the city. A detailed event map also helps visitors plan their route through the glowing installations.
With its blend of art, innovation and community spirit, LUMENOCITY is set to become a highlight on Cape Town’s cultural calendar.
