If there is one peak in the world worthy of recognition, it is Lion’s Head, although it usually plays second fiddle to Table Mountain. This is a tribute to the Lion, that beloved figure of Cape Town that doesn’t need much of an introduction. Here are five reasons we think it’s awesome.
LOOKS
Any way you look at the Lion, it’s sitting pretty. Tens of thousands of photos have been taken of it and every single angle does it justice. Refer to the examples below, then refer to pretty much any other mountain in the universe and you’ll get the point.
NAME
It’s a mountain named after the king of the jungle, one of the most majestic beasts to currently roam the Earth. And one doesn’t easily get that title – it’s earned. It even has a sibling mountain, on the other side of its parent Table Mountain, named after the Devil. In Cape Town we just call it as it is.
PERSONALITY
The Lion is officially on Twitter, because it has some stuff to say.
Guys, it’s hot up here today. If you don’t wanna die, don’t climb me.

GOOD WITH THE LADIES
Nobody really knows which gender the Lion chooses to go by, but we can be almost certain that it’s an alpha male due to its mane. And the Lion is good with the ladies. Like really good. Have you ever noticed how many good-looking people congregate on the Lion? Exactly.
STYLE
Need we say more? A picture tells a thousand words.
