The reviews say it all: Five stars across the board
‘Fabulous show in an intimate setting with truly wonderful African musicians. Our family had a blast listening and getting a chance to beat with the music.’
‘I thought we were going for a typical dinner and a show. This is not what we received… It was so much more! Wine was amazing, the performers were incredible, I learnt so much about instruments from my own country, and the entertainment and energy just kept going. My kids had the best time too! The best evening out we have had in a long time.’
‘This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime spectacular African experience.’
Experience highlights
Wine tasting and storytelling
Your journey begins with a wine tasting hosted by Silvermist winemaker Gregory Louw or his sommelier, Gift. Set on the magnificent lawns overlooking the Twelve Apostles, guests enjoy a relaxed introduction to the Constantia Valley and its winemaking heritage.
Taste four exceptional wines, including two of Silvermist’s distinctive organic specialities. Those who prefer non-alcoholic options can enjoy a selection of refreshing homemade iced teas instead. As the tasting unfolds, guests are treated to the vibrant sounds of traditional African songs.

Drumstruck the Show: The most fun, interactive African music-theatre experience on earth
Next, the rhythm takes over. Inside a theatre that doubles as a museum of traditional South African instruments, Drumstruck’s world-class performers, including Mpho Rasenyalo and Tumelo Seleke, guide you through the history of drumming in Africa.
Having shared stages with artists such as Shakira, Dolly Parton and Will.I.Am, the Drumstruck cast delivers an electric mix of music and storytelling. Every guest receives a drum, so you don’t just watch, you become part of the show!
Explore the museum’s extraordinary collection, featuring:
- A Mbira, played by Ephat Mujuru, the world’s finest Mbira player.
- A penny whistle, played by Lemmy Special Mabaso.
- A djembe, played by Adama Drame.
- Zambian drums, from the show Umoja.
- A full set of Pedi Pipes, made from impala horns.
- The Lesiba, the only stringed wind instrument from Lesotho.
- A full display of leg shakers.
During the show, you will hear the African ‘God Drum’ – the Ngoma Lungunda – which is said to bring the gods and ancestors into the room; Kudu horns, Ubadi bows, Venda pipes, and the only Royal Ghana drum set in South Africa.
Experience traditional Xhosa wedding songs, the intricate harmonies and clapping of the Bushmen trance dance, the interlocking rhythms of the Akadinda and the joyful resonance of the Marimba, considered Africa’s most harmonious instrument. See how sticks were used to make music while ‘fighting’, hear the haunting sounds of log drums and watch a traditional Zulu dance accompanied by the powerful Ndlamu drum.
Guests can also join in with shakers, tambourines or ‘frogs’, creating music together and experiencing the joy and power of drumming in a group.

The braai: A celebration of South African flavour
As the final drumbeat fades, the focus shifts from rhythm to flavour. Guests gather for a traditional South African braai – a meal that reflects the country’s warmth, community and generosity.
The menu includes flame-grilled lamb chops, tender chicken and perfectly spiced boerewors, served with colourful sides, crisp salads and local favourites like pap, chakalaka and freshly baked garlic bread. Vegetarian options are available and are prepared with the same care, using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Expect simple, bold flavours that celebrate South Africa’s food heritage. Finish on a sweet note with a tasty, home-style dessert.
The Marimba Band: Ending on a high note
As guests dine overlooking the Twelve Apostles, the Drumstruck Marimba Band provides lively entertainment, filling the air with music and energy.
Led by Zama Quambi, an award-winning marimba legend with over ten Best Marimba Band awards, and Lungelwa Mdivasi, South Africa’s leading female marimba powerhouse, the group delivers an unforgettable performance. Their set blends timeless African favourites like ‘Mailaika’ and traditional Xhosa dance songs with feel-good classics such as ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ and ‘Summertime’.
The music is infectious, the atmosphere relaxed and celebratory, and before long, everyone is clapping, singing or moving to the beat. It’s a performance that leaves guests connected to the music, the people and the spirit of South Africa.
