If practical living, pure comfort and extravagant views are part of your travel requirements, then this self-catering luxury cabin just off the Bainskloof Pass is that slice of paradise you have been searching for. Only an hours drive from Cape Town, this luxury mountain accommodation offers visitors a chance to reflect, reset and reconnect with nature in an unforgettable escape from daily life. Welcome to the Mount Bain Cabin.

Mount Bain Cabin offers off-the-grid living. The cabin features a well-considered functional interior, a clean and comfortable space with sliding doors that connect the inside area with the external deck area. Very exciting; the Mount Bain Cabin offers complete solitude, with no neighbours in sight. A skinny-dippers paradise!

Spend your evenings toasting in the stunning, wood-fired hot tub or lounge comfortably in the cabins wraparound hammock net while you absorb the last of the days sun and the untouched views of the Breedekloof Valley. There is also an outdoor bath nestled into the mountain and an outdoor shower. If romance were a cabin, she’d be the Mount Bain.

Despite the solitude there is no shortage of activities. Get outside and enjoy some superior mountain views, great fynbos, and fresh air.

The Bainskloof Pass offers a spectacular drive, a 20 minute hike to ancient rock paintings or an hour long hike to a waterfall. There are also MTB routes as well as multiple swimming spots and kayaking in winter. Wine and fruit farms, farm stalls, a gin distillery, restaurants, and a bush pub are all within close distance of the cabin.

For those hot days, there is a dedicated swim and picnic spot at the Witterivier for guests of the direct nature reserve. The Mount Bain supplies tubes and a Stand Up Paddle for guests to enjoy.

If outdoor adventuring is not your style, stay inside and laze around the fireplace, enjoy the slow life and watch the Klipspringers, Jackal Buzzards, and experience the landscape from your elevated perspective.

Guest access:
The quaint cabin is located high up on the Hawequas mountain in a private nature reserve (the last 150 meters require a 4×4 for direct cabin access). The cabin overlooks the beautiful Mostertshoek Twins, the Breede, and Witte River in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa.

Pets are allowed, as long as there is no interference with the wildlife in the reserve (Klipspringers, Dassies, baboons, etc.). There is no railing for animals on the deck. View availability and book your stay at this idyllic mountain location here.
