This upmarket Italian pasta bar boasts an extravagant menu. Expertly co-crafted by Michelin-starred chef Luciano Monosilio in collaboration with executive chef Justin Barker, this menu offers a selection of modern Italian antipasti, tapas-style pasta and carefully curated desserts designed to appease foodies and critics alike.
Indulge in their daily specials board, which features a seasonal selection of meat, poultry, seafood and vegetarian dishes. We recommend that you try their signature dish featured on their Winter set menu – the carbonara pasta.
Winter set menu | R395 pp including a glass of house red wine
- Antipasti – Focaccia Italian olive and potato focaccia, grissini sticks and chargrilled melanzane tomato salsa, basil, parmesan and smoked minestrone broken spaghetti, stracciatella and wild garlic aioli.
- Pasta – Signature carbonara by Luciano Monosilio Guanciale, egg and pecorino (semolina) and oven-baked pacchero basil ricotta, rustic tomato, grana (semolina) and pappardelle alla teramana fried meat balls, herb oil (egg).
- Dolci – Millefoglie, dark chocolate and vanilla custard, candied almonds.
Vegetarian set menu | R395 pp including a glass of house red wine
- Antipasti – Focaccia Italian olive and potato focaccia, grissini sticks and chargrilled melanzane tomato salsa, basil, parmesan and minestrone broken spaghetti, stracciatella, and wild garlic.
- Pasta – Spaghetti alla scapece fried baby marrow, mint lemon dressing, grana (semolina) and oven baked pacchero basil ricotta, rustic tomato and grana (semolina) and pici pici cacio e pepe.
- Dolci – Millefoglie, dark chocolate and vanilla custard, candied almonds.
Please note that Scala charges a corkage of R100 that is limited to wine and sparkling wine (one bottle per four guests). There is also a cake charge of R150.
