When a man from the United Kingdom visited Cape Town, he was surprised by the sight of ‘little white mum vans’ pulling up on the roadside, doors wide open, and calling out to pedestrians.
As someone unfamiliar with how taxis work in the country, he assumed they were driving around for fun, catcalling women all day.

In the video, he showed a taxi driving past him and stated that he had just seen one pull up next to a woman walking on the street, whistling and honking.
The TikTok user is visibly baffled by the incident, saying, ‘They catcall women like no tomorrow; I’ve never seen it as bad as that in my life’.
‘They do it all day and there’s loads of these guys’.
Little does he know that in Cape Town, this is a taxi’s version of a shout-out to potential passengers, complete with open doors and curbside charm!
