Recently, I took a drive with an Uber driver through the Mother City, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Ashleigh Nefdt.

As we cruised, we started speaking casually. A dash of politics, a hint of capitalism talk, and of course, the weather- because the last few days in the Cape have seen every season possible, just in the space of a few days.

I told him that it’s so wonderful to think that we’re pretty close to a wintery wonderland. He laughed and responded that there’s no way there’s snow in Africa.

“Nevermind Africa, it’s right here. Franschoek, Matroosberg.. we’re in the Cape of snow right now,” I expressed.

We began bantering about it, but he was a hard nut to crack in terms of convincing. In all honesty, I wouldn’t have believed it either without some sort of photographic evidence.

Thus in an ode to present evidence to the case, and to showcase all the gorgeous snowy snaps shot by Capetonians, here are the most recent snowy snaps in the Mother City.
