3 x South African paralympic surfing champion, Caleb Swanepoel, has once again been granted the opportunity to make his country proud – and show the world that disability doesn’t define you.
The Capetonian champ who’s defeated the odds, not only in terms of his incredible story, but also in terms of a spirit that can uplift a nation.
He’s recently been selected for the 2021 South African team to compete at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships in California this December.
However, there isn’t financial support from the government toward the athletes. This means that the para-surfers have to pave their own route to victory.
Caleb’s life changed forever at just 20 years old when, whilst bodysurfing in the ocean during a family holiday, he was attacked by a great white shark. The shark pulled him underwater and his right leg was severed.
Funds that need to be raised include covering the costs for accommodation, food, transport and entry into the event and classification costs.
“To be able to represent my country on an international stage doing a sport I love is an absolute privilege and a dream come true! Please help me achieve this by supporting this initiative in whatever way possible. Thank you!” says Caleb.
