A TikTok video of a white man in Sea Point, Cape Town, working as a ‘gaatjie’ for a taxi driver has gone viral, with many users commenting on the man’s ‘positive attitude’ while performing his duties.

In a video shared by a user named @mandisa_banda on Monday, 10 June, the unidentified man ‘hops in and out of the taxi’ to allow passengers into the taxi in the suburb of Sea Point.
The man is seen being casually dressed for his job, wearing a headband, a long-sleeved top and long pants that ‘resemble pyjamas’.
Gaatjies are individuals who ‘operate the door and take people’s fares’, which are usually conducted by people of colour in the taxi industry, according to Briefly.
At the time of writing this article, the video has garnered over 32 000 likes, 637 comments and 3 496 shares.
