Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth, James Vos, said air access remains ‘a critical lever for tourism growth, job creation and economic opportunity.’
He noted the sector’s direct contribution to the city’s economy in 2024 and the role of new and expanded routes in bringing visitors.
Vos added that official confirmation of the final passenger totals will come from Airports Company South Africa in the coming weeks, and he welcomed the strong connectivity that now links Cape Town to more global destinations.
Industry leaders say the surge in arrivals supports local businesses, hospitality jobs and investment across the region. Local authorities and tourism partners plan to use these gains to encourage more conferences, longer stays and broader benefits for communities across the city.
