Are you the perfect host for a designer home in Sicily?
Airbnb is on a journey seeking an adventurer set to be the perfect host for a designer home in Sicily. Their requirements? Bring life to the quaint town of Sambuca once more.
It might sound like a trail of dreams or the plot to a Woody Allen film, however, it could be your reality. The once bustling, still charming spot of Sambuca is hoping to invest in new, diverse energy for their town.
Inspired by the Euro House campaign in 2019 – for which the town gained notoriety, the prospective traveller is invited to join a small international community and contribute to the culture of the little Italian gem whilst playing host to a designer Italian Airbnb – all rent-free.
This is all part of an initiative to spur Sambuca’s renaissance and host international travellers for nine months.
“The participant will therefore need to demonstrate a commitment to hosting and to contributing to village life,” said Airbnb. Such southern Italian activities range from the grape harvest to olive picking.
The town has only 6000 inhabitants with a unique blend of Italian and North African culture.
The home is recently refurbished and now dotes the title ‘designer’ thanks to the imaginings of architectural firm Studio Dieda and Airbnb.
The house spans three floors each with a personality of its own. The ground floor includes a small living room, a master bedroom (with an en-suite bathroom). The first floor boasts
another living room space to work, a mezzanine bedroom and a bathroom. The top-level has more free space with the addition of a queen-sized bed.
The chosen candidate will choose their bedroom whilst the second will house their guests.
