International travellers heading to and from South Africa are being urged to check their flight arrangements carefully as global aviation schedules face disruption linked to developments in the Middle East.
South African Tourism confirmed earlier today it is closely tracking a wave of flight delays and cancellations caused by airspace closures affecting several international routes, a situation already reshaping travel plans worldwide.
South African Tourism indicated that it remains in active coordination with aviation authorities, airlines, airports and industry partners to assess how changing airspace conditions may influence travellers connected to the country.
Officials emphasised that passengers should verify flight details directly with airlines, booking agents or airport authorities before travelling, noting that schedules may shift with little notice.
Travellers affected by cancellations or delays are encouraged to engage airlines and travel agents regarding rebooking arrangements and onward travel support.
Highlighting the sector’s approach during the disruption period, Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Shamilla Chettiar said the tourism industry is preparing to assist visitors navigating unexpected delays.
‘During this period of disruption, South African Tourism has no doubt that, in the true South African spirit of ubuntu, the tourism industry will ensure that affected travellers are supported while they await onward journeys to their respective homes,’ she stated.
She added that the collective response reflects the country’s longstanding reputation for hospitality and responsiveness toward international visitors.
As airlines and aviation regulators respond to shifting airspace restrictions, South African Tourism said it will continue observing developments and sharing verified information as it becomes available.
