If travel dreams featuring Thailand are at the top of your bucket list and have been calling your name, the line just got a whole lot clearer thanks to Thailand’s new TEST & GO Pass.
From February 1, fully-vaccinated travellers from any country can apply for a TEST & GO Thailand Pass which permits travel to all parts of Thailand.
“We are looking forward to welcoming travellers from South Africa to our shores to enjoy quarantine-free travel. We encourage all tourists to prioritise safety and adhere to COVID-19 protocols while on their trip so they can enjoy our land of smiles for longer,” says Chiravadee Khunsub, Director of The Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Below are the requirements for TEST & GO quarantine-free travel coming into effect from 1 February:
1. Before you go:
- Pre-book SHA++ accommodation on day 1 and day 5 of your trip which will include your 2 PCR tests – these can be different hotels.
- Obtain health insurance with a minimum coverage of USD $50,000 or R767 410,00.
- Obtain a Thailand Pass. Guests can apply more than 60 days before departure.
- Install the MorChana app.
2. When you arrive:
- Present proof of double vaccination.
- Present proof of negative RT-PCR test issued within 72 hours before departure.
- Proceed directly to SHA++ hotel.
- Await the results of your RT-PCR test in your hotel room.
3. During your stay:
- Once your day 1 PCR test is negative, you can travel anywhere in Thailand!
- However, you must go to your pre-arranged SHA++ hotel on day 5 where they will administer your second PCR test. Staying in your hotel room whilst you await the results will be necessary. Once you have your results, they should be shown to the staff at the hotel and logged into the MorChana app.
Happy Thailand travels!
