In what can only be described as an unexpected twist to their seaside getaway, a couple from Johannesburg has embraced the power of laughter after discovering their holiday rental in Cape St Francis was a far cry from the pictures they had imagined.
Upon arriving at the picturesque coastal town, the couple found themselves staring at a house that was nothing short of a reality check.
Instead of the idyllic retreat they had envisioned, they were met with a dilapidated structure, broken furniture, and narrow, cramped spaces that seemed to beg for an overhaul.
The state of the bathroom was particularly shocking; not only were the showers broken, but the walls bore the marks of age with unsightly fungal growths and even mushrooms sprouting in the damp corners.
‘Let’s go through to the bathroom. This is a particular joy,’ the husband remarked, showcasing the couple’s resilience in the face of adversity. ‘What’s nice is you get a little bit of aerobics on your way into the bathroom in the morning because you’ve got to do a little side step to squeeze in,’
Clearly in good spirits despite the unfortunate accommodation choice, he added with a laugh, ‘Otherwise, a guy like me doesn’t fit. So we go into the bathroom. Unfortunately, or fortunately, if you bought yourself a pair of Havaianas’s sandals or slip socks, you’ll be just fine!’
