Cape Town’s Vergelegen wine estate in Somerset West is set to delight burger enthusiasts with a unique culinary experience in the great outdoors.
The highly anticipated relaunch of the famous Nguni Café pop-up promises to take your taste buds on a wild adventure.
Nestled against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hottentots Holland mountain range, this limited-time gem is situated on a sprawling 400-hectare farm field.
As guests indulge in a delectable meal, they can marvel at Vergelegen’s magnificent Nguni herd, comprised of approximately 400 indigenous cattle, which freely graze on the adjacent green pastures.

‘We’ve created a captivating atmosphere for our guests by installing a glass conservatory adorned with hay bales, blending rustic charm with contemporary flair,’ reveals Vergelegen’s Managing Director, Wayne Coetzer.

This exceptional restaurant offers a memorable dining experience with a focus on quality ingredients and impeccable service. It aims to captivate the palates of seasoned burger connoisseurs, as well as families in search of a value-for-money meal in a relaxed setting.
Sink your teeth into succulent beef, chicken or vegetarian patties served in freshly baked buns, accompanied by crispy chips for only R120.

For dessert, you can indulge in a refreshing soft serve (R30) or treat yourself to ice cream paired with a chocolate brownie (R60). Children aged 10 years and under can enjoy a specially crafted kiddies’ burger and chips for R80.

‘Our pop-up restaurant offers more than just a meal in the great outdoors. It serves as a gathering place for friends, families, and burger enthusiasts to come together, share stories, and create lasting memories,’ Coetzer adds.
The Nguni Café will be open until the end of July, from Wednesdays to Sundays, between 10am and 4pm. Reservations are not accepted and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Indoor seating is available for 30 people, with an additional outdoor deck that can accommodate 70 guests.
