Blaauwklippen is one of the oldest wine farms in Stellenbosch and one of my favourite spots to enjoy with my family, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Leigh-Ann Londt. The farm is rich in history and even has its own iconic winemaking traditions.
The Farm Shop and Deli features a new cake table – with a spread of irresistible sweet treats to indulge in. This includes carrot cake with cream cheese icing, a cheesecake with a Tennis Biscuit crust, a baked praline cheesecake with caramel & nuts, and a sensational coconut cake that is simply irresistible.
If you are looking for the perfect lunch spot for the weekend, look no further. The Hamm & Uys restaurant offers a succulent 300g ribeye steak served with garlic butter, sautéed green beans and smooth buttery mashed potatoes with a reduced bone broth gravy prepared with pasture-raised beef bones for an unbelievable R220. Bookings are essential.
A day well spent at this R44 destination is not complete without seeing what the tasting room has in stock. Blaauwklippen farm offers the 2021 Award Winners:
Brut MCC 2019 | Gold – Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge
Shiraz 2019 | Silver (90 points) – Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show
DBK 2017 | Gold (90+ points) – SA Red Blends Challenge
To be part of the weekend promo – buy a mixed case of two bottles each for only R750 (save R300!) on the farm or online.
