The Volunteer Wildlife Services (VWS) has announced that the VWS Trail Challenge 2023, a scenic trail run set to take place on the iconic Table Mountain, is back and will be happening this Sunday, 14 May 2023.
The VWS Trail Challenge is an annual fundraiser for the VWS, a non-profit organisation that relies on the generosity of the public to support its mission.

This is the 17th edition of the VWS Trail Challenge and it’s once again designed as a trail run with stunning views over the city of Cape Town while enjoying the invigorating trails on one of the 7 Wonders of Nature, Table Mountain.
Starting from Gardens RFC (and finishing there too), the 10-kilometre or 20-kilometre route will take you on an epic tour of the beautiful lower slopes of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, the rambling tracks of Deer Park and the glorious single-track contour above Tafelberg Road – all in all, a majestic day out in magnificent Cape Town.

Organised and run entirely by the VWS volunteers, all proceeds go towards the organisation, an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit entity dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and the preservation of our natural heritage.
The VWS receives no official or municipal funding, and all funds (raised by volunteers, via donations or events like this) are used for operational and logistical costs when fighting devastating wildfires in the Western Cape.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of this epic adventure on Table Mountain while making a meaningful difference in your community. Plus, Jack Black will be selling cold beers after the race and R5 from each beer sold will go towards the VWS fundraising initiative.
It’s not too late to sign up for this Sunday’s race; register today and join the VWS Trail Challenge 2023.
