Earlier this year, gardening enthusiasts took part in the yearly rose-pruning workshop and the rose show is a result of their pruning efforts.
The show features a varied collection of roses, from classics to modern hybrids, each distinguished by its unique colours, fragrances and forms.

Guests will have the opportunity to saunter through the exquisitely maintained rose garden and gain valuable insights into the care and cultivation of roses, perfectly timed for the upcoming summer.
In addition to showcasing a wide array of roses, the event will provide a wealth of knowledge for gardening enthusiasts, garden lovers and anyone interested in the subject.

A highlight of the event will be the special launch of a project aimed at obtaining more antique and heritage rose varieties. These varieties will be sourced and propagated to further develop and enhance the garden.
For those who may have missed the annual rose care pruning day earlier this year, a refresher session will be included. This will equip attendees with essential skills for nurturing their rose gardens.

Participants are encouraged to bring their gloves and good-quality secateurs if they wish to participate practically in deadheading the roses.
‘The Recreation and Parks Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our community by providing access to a variety of recreational experiences.
‘We take pride in maintaining and showcasing our city’s beautiful gardens and parks while offering engaging events and educational opportunities for residents and visitors. It is aimed at celebrating the beauty of nature and sharing knowledge about roses,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.
