The City of Cape Town’s Public Awareness, Communication and Education (PACE) Team and Bingo the anti-litter mascot are heading to beaches around Cape Town as part of the City’s Festive Season Waste Awareness Programme.
Using fun activities for beachgoers, the team will host activities to help discourage littering – a massive problem during summer.
During the visits the team will be run a programme of fun games and activities like volleyball with Bingo, spot the Bingo bin, music and dance, with prizes up for grabs.

‘I am calling on visitors to have fun, but also to please respect our beaches and recreational areas this festive season. If everyone can make sure they bin it in a Bingo bin, we can make it a summer to remember for all the right reasons,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
The team will be visiting the following beaches between 10am and 3pm over December/January:
December:
- Sunday, 3 December: Camps Bay Beach
- Friday, 8 December: St James Beach
- Saturday, 9 December: Lagoon Beach
- Sunday, 10 December: Big Bay Beach
- Friday, 15 December: Blouberg Beach
- Wednesday, 20 December: Strand Beach
- Thursday, 21 December: Hout Bay Harbour Beach
- Friday, 22 December: Muizenberg
