Motorsport fans were out in full force in the Mother City as the Cape Town E-Prix lived up to expectations.

With no shortage of well-known spectators, including Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and Cape Town major Geordin Hill-Lewis, who were both on the starting grid, not even loadshedding could dampen spirits with Cape Town proving its capabilities to host top level motor racing.
Back to the action, it was a dramatic first lap as Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein crashed into former F1 driver Sebastian Buemi.

More turmoil ensued for Maserati as Maximilian Günther suffered rear damage to his car after he hit the wall and had to walk off the track.

In the end, DS Penske’s Jean-Eric Vergne and Hyderabad winner was second as Cassidy grabbed the last podium place.
It was however a disappointing day for local favourite, Kelvin van de Linde and his ABT Cupra team when he pulled out of the main event due to an issue with his rear suspension issues.
