Matroosberg Nature Reserve
The Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve is located on the fully working farm Erfdeel in Paarl. The reserve, which can be easily accessed by vehicle, is known for being covered in snow during the winter months. The area is also known for its private ski slope.
Note that the 4×4 trail is currently closed due to the thickness of the snow. Please adhere to the reserve’s safety rules.

Hex River Valley
During winter, snow-capped mountains follow the picturesque vineyard colours in autumn, located between the Western Cape’s Winelands region and the coast beyond to the south and the plains of the Great Karoo to the north. The valley is a geological and floral transition zone and part of the Karoo climate region, meaning some temperatures can reach extremes.
However, there are plenty of outdoor adventures and accommodation types.
