It’s almost Christmas and in the spirit of giving, now is a time when you can really make a difference with your individual actions.
If you have the means, donations are an important way to keep our communities thriving and often just surviving.
Here are a few of the organisations who will greatly benefit from your donations:
Haven Night Shelter
The Haven Night Shelter provides temporary shelter, physical care and social welfare services to homeless adults, assisting them to get back on their feet.
The Haven relies on financial donations and volunteer work.

Nazareth
Nazareth Care is an NPO run by the Sisters of Nazareth that provides care for both the elderly and vulnerable children.
The organisation cares particularly for people who have gone through neglect, illness and poverty. Located in Vredehoek and Elsies River, the team always needs donations such as clothing, toys, furniture and general funding.

Santa Paws
Santa Cause for Paws, focusing on cats and dogs, collects food, blankets, toys and other essentials to donate to shelters across the Western Cape.
You can either donate money or put together a box for an animal. You can pledge to pack your box on the site and then drop it off at one of the drop-off spots.
Visit their website for the details.

R.A.D
R.A.D, a NPO that focuses on outreach work in communities in the Overberg area, is looking for kids’ toys.
The organisation has a shop that offers great bargains for families doing their shopping. The women working in the shop say they are desperate for kids’ summer clothes and toys, bed linen, curtains, glassware and pots or pans.
R.A.D asks for anything that is clean and properly functioning.
All proceeds from the shop go towards paying vet bills for Grabouw and Botrivier township animals being treated by the organisation.
R.A.D has drop-off points in Hermanus, Strand, Somerset West, Welgemoed, Botrivier, Grabouw and Sea Point.
If you would like to donate and need more details, message R.A.D on their Facebook page.
Santa Shoebox
Santa Shoebox is an annual campaign that delivers over 100,000 boxes every year to facilities across South Africa and Namibia.
Since its beginning, the drive has reached and given shoeboxes to over a million children.
As a donor, you pledge to donate and receive the name, age, and gender of a child, for whom you then pack a shoebox of gifts. Each box contains toothpaste, a toothbrush, soap, a washcloth, clothes, educational supplies, sweets and toys.

The organisation is always in need of help from the public, including kitchen equipment, office supplies, garden equipment, toiletries, cleaning supplies, bedding and clothing.
