Visitors to Cape Town, look out for a new, perfectly situated spot in De Waterkant: The Grey Boutique Hotel. Right next to the slick Piano Bar and the KOS Kiosk, and a few steps away from the Cape Quarter Mall, this sophisticated hotel complements its trendy surroundings.
But its not just the outside aesthetic that should excite you. What with The Grey’s vibrant décor, restaurant, and rooftop bar, we wouldn’t be surprised if you had fewer trips around the city than you intended.
Much of The Grey Boutique Hotel’s interior is Moroccan-inspired, particularly its lobby, hallways and courtyards. Its 13 double suites, however, are mostly minimalist in design, and feature a combination of rustic and vintage furnishings. There are also two rooms with private balconies from which you can view Table Mountain.
SHIO is the name of hotel’s restaurant. It’s kitchen is presided over by prominent Cape Town chef Cheyne Moresby. He’ll be cooking up masterful Japanese fusion cuisine for you. If you prefer to recline rather than dine, then head up to the rooftop bar. Going by the name Skybar, its the perfect place to relax with a cocktail.
If you decide to visit The Grey, rest assured that you’re in experienced hands. The hotel, and Skybar, are co-owned by the internationally experienced father-daughter team of Christian Peters and Lisa Calligaro. They are joined by Monika Brune, also the owner of Blume PR in Germany.
The Grey Boutique Hotel forms part of a booming commercial hub, now known as ‘The Grey Experience’. But we expect there’ll far more colour in De Waterkant when it opens officially on 20 December.
