A month ago, on November 20, temperatures dropped to a record low and snow was recorded in several parts of the Western Cape. YouTuber Bryn North captured this footage of the snow in the Matroosberg Mountains near Ceres while on a week long holiday.

The mountains were transformed into a winter wonderland overnight.

In a post with the video, North said:
“Snow in South Africa is not that common, but just outside of Cape Town during winter it snowed one morning in the Matroosberg Nature reserve. My mates Kyle, Naude and myself decided to take an early morning drive up the 4×4 route in the mountains to play in the snow. It only snowed for a brief moment but there was a decent amount of powder over the mountains. I filmed bits and pieces that morning and finally decided to put a short edit together from the trip.”
