Running alongside the renowned Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, the programme explores the impact of documentary storytelling in today’s world.

Through thought-provoking conversations, the talks unpack themes of memory, resistance, healing, and cultural reclamation. At the same time, speakers examine how documentary cinema can challenge dominant narratives and restore overlooked histories.

From storytelling as political intervention to film as a tool for repair and dignity, the programme creates space for meaningful reflection and exchange.
