Leon Bridges brings R&B to Kirstenbosch

Cape Town is set to welcome Grammy-winning R&B artist Leon Bridges for a live performance at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden on Monday, 30 November 2026.

The Texas-born singer-songwriter will make his South African debut with two performances in the country, beginning at Marks Park in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 28 November, before heading to Cape Town for his Kirstenbosch show.

Bridges arrives in South Africa following the release of his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, which is set for release on 25 September via Columbia Records.

The 12-track album marks another chapter in Bridges’ evolving R&B sound, bringing together the warmth associated with his debut Coming Home with a stronger emphasis on groove and a more adventurous musical direction.

Produced by J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto of Jungle, Happiness Anytime follows Good Thing, Gold-Diggers Sound and his self-titled 2024 album, Leon.

‘I’ve wanted to play South Africa for a long time, and I’m really excited to finally make it there, especially with this album, for these two special shows,’ highlights Bridges.

The Cape Town performance will feature South African singer-songwriter Msaki, adding a local act to the bill for Bridges’ first South African shows.

With Bridges bringing his latest album to the stage, the performance will draw from his growing catalogue while introducing Cape Town audiences to material from Happiness Anytime.

The Kirstenbosch setting places the concert among Cape Town’s established outdoor music events, with the performance taking place in the botanical garden on 30 November.
