“A picture says a thousand words.” In this case, the saying couldn’t ring more true. Earlier this month on December 6, a photograph of a man carrying his young daughter to school went viral.
He dressed smartly for work and she, neat as a pin in school uniform, were caught in the hustle of what is a very real morning for many every single day.
Restricted further by the Ghana Public Road Transport Union (GPRTU) strike in Accra, this proud pop scooped up his little one and took matters, quite literally, into his own hands.
The snap made its way onto the Twitter feed of popular multimedia journalist Kenneth Awotwe Darko’s feed. Cue the power of social media used positively.
@TheKennethDark called on his followers for assistance. The response was “record-breaking Twitter” and today this dad and his daughter were blessed with a car of their very own, thanks to a generous “group.”
Darko tweeted again, asking the digital-verse to help locate the gentleman to share the news. Just hours later, he was found!
?Y’all remember this man who has become the poster boy for yesterday’s drivers’ protest as he carried his little girl to school?
Well, today a group wants to buy him a CAR?.
Kindly RT to help us locate him. ?? pic.twitter.com/CXauk8hyUQ— Kenneth Awotwe Darko (@TheKennethDarko) December 7, 2021
The story has sparked a generosity fire, with many wanting to do even more for the family. One Twitter user has even sponsored socks for the little girl for an entire year. You go, @Dominic_Yeboah_!
What a beautiful reminder to count our blessings as we continue into the festive season. Whether it’s food in your belly or a lift to work each day, always be grateful for the little things. And when you can, play your blessings forward.
