Legendary actress Diane Keaton died on 11 October 2025 at the age of 79, her family confirmed. Producer and close friend Dori Rath notified CBS News of Keaton’s passing, and People magazine reported the news, citing the family’s spokesperson, reports Cape {town} Etc.
Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her role as Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather films and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Annie Hall in 1978. Her career spanned more than five decades and included comedies and dramas such as Father of the Bride, The First Wives Club and Something’s Gotta Give (CBS News).
Keaton remained active on screen into the 2020s, appearing in the 2024 comedy Summer Camp. (AP News)
According to People.com Colleagues and friends paid warm tribute on social media and in statements. Bette Midler described Keaton as ‘brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary,’ while Goldie Hawn spoke of the light and memories she leaves behind.
Steve Martin and Ben Stiller posted personal recollections that underlined Keaton’s humour and generosity. Many messages asked fans to respect the family’s wish for privacy at this time.
