Following the recent Grammy Awards, US President Donald Trump has taken to social media to express his displeasure with the event and its host, South African comedian Trevor Noah, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The awards, which aired for the last time on CBS, found themselves at the centre of a controversy ignited by a joke made by Noah during the telecast.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump lambasted the Grammy Awards as ‘the worst, virtually unwatchable!’ He also claimed that CBS was fortunate to no longer have what he described as ‘this garbage’ airwaves tarnishing their reputation.
This critical sentiment culminated in a direct attack on Noah, whom Trump dismissed as ‘almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards,’
The source of Trump’s ire was a joke made by Noah, who quipped, ‘Since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton’, implying Trump had a connection to Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous properties.
The comment referenced both the recent Grammy for Song of the Year awarded to Billie Eilish and the longstanding associations surrounding Epstein, the deceased financier linked to numerous high-profile individuals.
In a lengthy diatribe, Trump insisted Noah was ‘wrong’ in his insinuation, stating he has never visited ‘Epstein Island’ nor had he ever faced accusations of doing so from even the ‘Fake News Media,’
He expressed his intent to pursue legal action against Noah, characterising him as ‘pathetic’ and ‘talentless,’ ‘Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!’ Trump concluded, hinting at potential legal proceedings that could follow.
Meanwhile, Noah has yet to respond to the online backlash or the legal threats from the former president.
