Maybe you’ve driven without a license before. Given that our license printing machine in South Africa wasn’t exactly operational for a while, it’s likely that many South Africans ‘took a risk’. However, one man ruled the international ‘taking a risk’ game – for seventy years.

In his 80’s, a Nottingham man finally ended his ‘lucky’ streak spanning decades. According to the BBC, police were on patrol and pulled him over near a supermarket in Bullwell. They were stunned to discover that not only did he not have a license, but that he had never had one, or insurance as he claimed.
The driver was born in 1938 and said he’d been driving since the age of 12 and had avoided being stopped by the police ever since.
Patrol officers humorously shared the story on Facebook as per The Guardian, along with the hashtag #rodehisluck.
“We can’t quite believe what happened next, as the driver, who was born in 1938 (!!), coughed that he had been driving with no licence and no insurance, since he was 12 (yes TWELVE) years old ….. and somehow had managed to never be stopped by the police. (We’ll let you do the maths!!)”
“Thankfully he had never had an accident, caused anyone an injury, and never made anyone lose out financially, by hitting them whilst uninsured!”
