Khaby has risen from a laid-off factory worker to global TikTok star. His come-up shows how a simple idea can change a life and a family’s prospects, reports Cape {town} Etc.
He began posting during the COVID pandemic, turning short, silent reactions to overcomplicated ‘life hacks’ into a universal language of humour and calm expression.

His story reads like a human lesson in resilience. Khaby told People that he started making videos ‘for fun’ after losing his job and used his new platform to support his family.
‘The first thing I did with the money I’ve made is buy a bigger house for my family,’ he said, noting how central family remains to his choices.
Today he ranks among the platform’s biggest creators and has translated virality into commercial and humanitarian roles, including partnerships and high-profile appearances at award ceremonies and fashion events.
Reports of his rapid growth mark him as one of 2024’s most influential creators.
Khaby has also stepped into public service as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, using his platform to speak directly to young people in Senegal about opportunity and hope. ‘I tell them to dream big. Try and do your best to accomplish your dreams,’ he said during his appointment in Dakar.
His voice, though often silent online, now echoes on stage and overseas.
