Ukraine has waived visa requirements for foreigners who want to help fight against Russian troops. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly authorised a “temporary visa-free regime” in a decree signed on Monday. This policy allows foreigners to join Ukraine’s International Defence Legion.
“All foreigners wishing to join the resistance against the Russian occupiers and protect global security are invited by the Ukrainian leadership to come to our state and join the ranks of the territorial defence forces,” Zelensky said in his announcement.
Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba also took to Twitter to reach out and ask those who are willing to help defend their country to “contact foreign diplomatic measures of Ukraine”.
Foreigners willing to defend Ukraine and world order as part of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, I invite you to contact foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine in your respective countries. Together we defeated Hitler, and we will defeat Putin, too.

The application requires volunteers to detail their military experience, and it’s been recommended that foreigners bring their own “personal protection”, including a helmet and body armour, Business Insider reports.
The decree by Zelensky came into effect on Tuesday CBC News adds, and is said to remain in effect as long as martial law is in place.
