Travel now extends to the world’s we’ve always dreamed of exploring. And, if parts of Westeros from Game of Thrones have ever been on your fantasy bucket list, it might be time for a trip to Northern Ireland where the world’s only permanent Studio Tour dedicated to the Game of Thrones series.
“Your journey through the making of Game of Thrones begins at The Wall in the vast and frozen North and all that lies in the darkness beyond”.
Situated close to Banbridge, the mythical world of some of our favourite characters comes to life and we become characters of our own. The studio tour gives visitors access to the behind the scenes world for the most expensive TV series ever, as Independent reports.
From February 4, visitor’s are given the option of travelling through the series makings, from script to screen, artistic sketches and journals to the props that became the world’s reality, housed with die-hard knowledge of the 73-episode series as the Game of Thrones Studio tour indicates.
Highlights include key settings from the show like the film set for Winterfell’s Great Hall and Crypts to Dragonstone Castle, The Map Table and Daenery’s throne. You”ll see everything from prosthetics to green screen epics, giant sculptures of dragon skulls and the magic behind the special effects. If your cup wasn’t already full there are numerous interactive choices such as the opportunity to try on virtual costumes and the option to add your own photo to the Hall of Faces as well as an armoury to explore (which also houses Arya’s ‘needle’ in souvenir form) as some other brilliant peaks.
Of course, the finale of the tour includes the Iron Throne, spotlit and surrounded by dragon-surround sound.
The props that the tour populates are said to make one feel truly immersed in the world, from Tyrion’s wine cup to the three original dragon’s eggs.
