Alan Hamel, widower of the late actress Suzanne Somers, says he has helped build an artificial intelligence version of his wife to keep her voice and counsel available to fans.
Somers, who died in 2023 at the age of 76, had discussed the idea of a digital twin for decades, Hamel told People magazine. (People.com). Hamel said the project, billed as the ‘Suzanne AI Twin’, uses Somers’s published work and archival interviews as its source material.
He told People the AI was trained on all 27 of her books and hundreds of interviews so it can answer questions in Somers’s voice, particularly on health and wellness topics she often addressed.

He previewed a demonstration earlier this year at a technology conference and described the likeness as startlingly close to the real Somers.
‘When you look at the finished one next to the real Suzanne, you can’t tell the difference,’ Hamel said.

Hamel framed the initiative as a fulfilment of Somers’s wish to help her readers and fans. He said to the San Francisco Chronicle that family members discussed the plan and now support it. They see the twin as a way to keep conversations going with people who valued Somers’s advice.
Hamel says the twin will be hosted on Somers’s official site so fans can consult it about her work and the interviews that shaped her public life.
Hamel presents the Suzanne AI Twin as a personal tribute and a way to preserve a long partnership that mixed love and shared curiosity about the future.
