Brazil rope jump tragedy has raised safety questions in São Paulo state after 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died during a guided jump at the Ponte do Esqueleto, near Limeira, on Saturday, 13 June 2026.
CNN Brasil reports that staff from Entre Cordas carried her to the launch point, but they had not attached the safety rope before she was released.

According to CNN Brasil and O Tempo, medics tried to revive Maria at the scene, but she died of multiple injuries. O Tempo said witnesses told police the instructors appeared rushed and skipped routine checks, while six people were detained as the inquiry continued.
The CNN Brasil also reported that her fiancé collapsed after the incident and later received medical care. Maria, who worked in physical education in Jandira, had posted photos and a video before the jump.
Authorities are still examining how the mistake happened and whether the operators followed required procedures at the site.
