Happy New Year Cape Town!

As is the norm, thousands flocked to Cape Town beaches on New Year’s Day. According to city officials the tally on the beaches was around the 200 000 people mark. Muizenburg beach saw 30 000 visitors on the day – leading us to believe that the Great White Sharks were keeping to themselves in their fragile, post-New Year’s Eve state.

In sadder news a 25-year old local male accidentally plunged to his death at Lion’s Head on Wednesday morning. A real tragedy – our thoughts are with his family. You can read more about that here.

The mercury is supposed to be rising to 27 today, but seeing as that the wind has now significantly dropped, it looks like its going higher. Speaking of wind, on the cricket front SA takes on the Windies at Newlands today. How are you spending Tweedenuwejaarsdag?
