It may be a month before Valentine’s Day, but it’s a good idea to start planning now – or else you could find yourself in the dog box if you only show up with a single plastic rose you got for free at the mall as a gift.

If a romantic dinner is not enough to express all your love, why not plan the perfect romantic getaway? You don’t have to travel to Paris for a great location.

With its sweeping landscape and spectacular views, the Winelands provides the ideal backdrop for your gesture. Webersburg Wine Estate has a great Valentine’s Day Picnic planned that will surely impress your date.

You and your love sit on the manicured lawn of the Manor House at Webersurg. The slopes of the Helderberg Mountain and the estate lake stretch out before you as you enjoy a gourmet picnic complete with a bottle of award-winning wine. An ensemble of live bands provide the soundtrack to your date, ensuring everything is as perfect as it can be.

After the glorious afternoon, you can retire to your luxury suite, where you continue your sweet escape with more wine to ease you into the evening.

If you get hungry later on, the estate has a charming bistro where you can dine in style.

If going away is not your style, you can still enjoy the day on the estate with the picnic. R450 will get you a picnic basket for  2 and vegetarian options are available. Pre-booking is essential.

In honour of the special day, Webersburg is having a love bird accommodation special. You can book one of their five-star suites at R1,800 per night, and you will receive a bottle of Webersburg MCC upon arrival. There are only 22 suites in the manor, so book early to avoid disappointment.
